The integration of CranioSacral and Psychotherapy allows for treatment of the mind and body as an inseparable entity.
The impact of physical conditions on our emotions, and emotions on our physical body, is a relatively new area of study. It is not yet fully a part of our cultural awareness. This separation of mind and body often inhibits us from fully understanding and treating, our health problems, whether they are emotional, behavioral, or trauma induced.
For example, an individual seeking help for migraines can only be fully treated when the psycho-dynamic component of the pain is identified and addressed. Sometimes this component may be related to high stress levels, or it may be as complex as a significant childhood trauma.
Sometimes we experience our health problems as entirely emotional, behavioral, or trauma induced, without recognizing the link between our emotional and physical expressions. Only by integrating physiological work with psychotherapy can we heal both mind and body.
When children experience trauma it is just as critical, as with adults, to address the emotional response as well as the physical injuries. Otherwise, the emotional trauma will be displaced into a physical entity that may continue through adulthood.
